The CEO of Toyota, Akio Toyoda, announced his resignation, citing his belief that he is too old to understand the consumer sentiments of this generation. This came as a shock to many, considering his successful transformation of the company’s image over the past 14 years. When he took over as CEO, he faced skepticism from Toyota engineers due to his law and business background and lack of experience as a top race driver.

“The board members advised him to train as a top race driver in order for Toyota engineers to respect and take his ideas seriously. He complied and participated in race events, achieving success and promoting sports models.

In 2016, Toyoda approved the project that resulted in the GR Yaris and served as a test driver under the pseudonym Morizo. His passion for racing played a significant role in resurrecting the Toyota Supra (GR Supra).

At 66, Toyoda stated that he was too old to lead a company expected to meet the needs of a younger generation and introduced Koji Sato as his successor.

Toyota’s unique philosophy, run by engineers, sets it apart from other car companies, ensuring the production of reliable and durable cars through the use of high-quality materials and precision engineering.”
